Project LARO: Celebrating Filipino Games

LARO is an exhibition of different Filipino games, interpreted through arts and crafts.

Project LARO for Kids by Kids 2015

This event is a collaboration between Creative Kids Studio, Alabang Town Center, and Tukod Foundation and aims to raise funds for UNICEF Philippines. It will also fund the construction of a thematic, child-friendly playground in Calauan, Laguna to benefit more than 7,000 children, mostly survivors of Typhoons Ondoy and Yolanda.

To raise funds for Project LARO and to help UNICEF commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child, LARO was designed to integrate play and art as a means to donate.

LARO includes the following activities:

“Paint It Forward”

An exhibit‐sale featuring 100 artworks of the young artists of Creative Kids Studio.

This will run from May 12-24 at the ATC Activity Center.

“Tara, Laro”

This is an invitation to play various Filipino games. It is a game competition in traditional Pinoy games including Patintero, Luksong Tinik, and Tumbang Preso inside the mall.

Every activity has a donation componnet. There is a Php 500 fee to join the Patintero.

This will be on May 16-17 beside BreadTalk, Town Plaza, Corte Ext (in front of Chilis)

“Community Art and Photo Exhibit”

This is an open actiity for the community for art and crafts making.

There will be a fee for mall goers to participate. The artwork will be donated to the Pangarap Center.

This event also features photographs by Artu Nepomuceno of the children from the resettlement.

Guests will also be given the opportunity to adopt a child from Calauan, Laguna by giving a Php 300 donation.

This will be on May 12-30 at the ATC Activity Center.

“Interactive Storytelling”

This is a storytelling session using a theatre‐like approach. It will bring Filipino stories to life by making the experience interactive and immersive for children.

This will be on May 23-24 at the ATC Activity Center.

“Laro Fashion Show”

This showcase contemporary Filipino-inspired clothes by renowned fashion designers like Ito Curata, Rajo Laurel, Rhett Eala, Len Cabili, Ann Ong and Elsi Standen.

It will aslo feature merchants of the Alabang Town Center and a showcase of children’s wear made of fabrics from all over the Philippines.

This will be on May 30 at the ATC Activity Center.
