Frozen, Disney’s latest animated feature reminds me of the Disney princess movies and the true love’s kiss. It has a good soundtrack and this is an addition to my all time favorite Disney movies – Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

Frozen is up for an Academy Award for Best Animated Film and “Let It Go” scored a nomination for the Oscars Best Original Song.  Walt Disney Studios has released a video of “Let It Go” in the sequence from Frozen where the snow queen Elsa sings the song in 25 different languages.  I love the original version and I’m loving this more!

“Let It Go” was translated into other languages and recorded by different artists for international versions of the Frozen soundtrack. Argentine singer Martina Stoessel recorded the song in Spanish and Italian as “Libre Soy” (which can be translated to English as “I’m Free”) and “All’alba sorgerò” (which translation is “At dawn I will rise”), respectively. Marsha Milan Londoh recorded the song in Malaysian as “Bebaskan”, and Anaïs Delva as “Libérée, Délivrée” (literally, “Released, Relieved”) in French (both the European and Canadian versions). While fundamentally similar, these translations bear subtle differences in content and thus even offer mild changes to the mood of the song. For example, rather than Elsa’s commenting that “the cold never bothered me anyway”, the French version instead gives the poignant-yet-resolute line “le froid est pour moi la prix de la liberté”, literally “the cold is for me the price of liberty.”
