Oh No! It’s going to be a Waterless Holy Week

It seems that will experience a more humid and dry summer this year. That’s because there will be water interruptions in parts of the Manila and Cavite for a day to three days during the Holy Week – from Wednedsay (April 16) to Black Saturday (April 19).

In Metro Manila, the affected areas are Makati, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Pasay, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and Parañaque. While in Cavite, the affected areas are Imus, Kawit, Bacoor, Cavite City, and Noveleta.

In a statement, Maynilad Water Services Inc. said the interruptions will give way to a flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)
The DPWH project involves the construction of an interceptor drainage box culvert (DBC) along Blumentritt Street. Unfortunately, the project will traverse the Maynilad water pipe along the corner of Juan Luna and Hermosa Streets.

Maynilad will need 72 hours to drain, realign, and energize the pipe before the DPWH can start its project. The DPWH allowed Maynilad to do the pipe realignment during the Holy Week, when fewer customers are expected to home.

Maynilad will alternate its service interruptions in many areas so customers can have a day to restock on their water supply.
It will also reopen four deepwells during the Holy Week water interruption. Around 60 water tankers will also be on standby to serve affected areas that will without water service for three straight days.

Maynilad is encouraging the affected customers to store enough water for the duration of this service interruption.  The complete schedule of interruptions is available as a PDF download at the Maynilad website. For more information or concerns, call the Maynilad Hotline 1626.
