Last week, we celebrated our wedding anniversary. We decided to spend it in a staycation, to take a break from all the work and just rest. The meetings and event planning for upcoming projects can wait.
We booked a staycation in I’M Hotel in Makati. It’s just a few blocks from home (that’s why we love staying in Makati)!
Our Room
We booked a Classic Studio. It may be the smallest room they have but still a roomy space compare to other hotel’s smallest room.
It has a king sized bed with big, plush pillows. The bed was excellent and so were the linens.
The room has a smart 49-inch HD flat-screen TV, a workingplace area. There are power points by the work area and by the bed to easily charge mobile phones. It has also amenities like a safe and coffee/tea making facilities and a mini bar (which is a complimentary on the first night).
The bathroom has a German rainshower and luxury bathroom amenities by Crabtree & Evelyn. No bath tub, which is Gab’s favorite, for this room type but it’s available on the next bigger rooms. And oh, I think they forgot to put robes for us inside the closet.
Pool, Club Lounge & Fitness Center
Towards the later part of the afternoon, we went to the Club Lounge. They offered complimentary pastries and beverages, open for the whole day from 7am-11pm. An alternative place to just relax other than your room.
The pool is one of the reasons why we decided to book a staycation here. I’M Hotel has an acrylic-bottomed infinity pool. This is an iconic element of the property. It can be seen upon entering the lobby as one looks up because it is acrylic-bottomed. You can see this pool even when you are just passing by Makati Avenue.
There are lounging beds at an elevated platform above the pool for sunbathing. By the pool is the Mermaid Pool Bar where you can order a drink or two.
The hotel has a fitness center available for all guests. Equipments are powered by Lifefitness.
Wifi
The hotel offers a complimentary WIFI within the hotel premises. Not that reliable as we sometimes get disconnected even if we are just inside the room. We are just using 2 mobile phones.
Eating at I’M Hotel
While snacks are available at anytime of the day from 7am-11pm, at the Club Lounge, meals are served at the Food Playground at the 4F. We had breakfast The Common Good (Food Playground) the next day. It features international food options on their buffet “nine (9) different concepts under one roof, offering the best of various international cuisines: | Parilla (Barbeque & Grill section) | Al Dente (Italian) | Paul and Ranuka (Healthy Instagramable Eats) | Empress Jade (Modern Chinese) | Perfect Four | One Bowl Wonder (Japanese Donburi and Hong Kong Roast Meats) | Tiffin (Indian) | Fountain (Seasonal Healthy Drinks) | SucrĂ© (Dessert Station).
Good choices available, even if you are vegetarian, they have many to offer!
I’M Hotel Signature Facilities
Aside from the pool, I’M Hotel has other signature facilities – the ANTIDOTE and the Onsen Spa.
ANTIDOTE is for tapas and cocktails. The centerpiece of this place is the 8m bar jellyfish aquarium with luminescent lights. This is another first for I’M Hotel as this is the first and only jellyfish bar in the country.
Gab was so interested to check out the jellyfish aquarium but there’s an age limit for entry. Only 11 to 17 years of age accompanied by an adult are welcome in the bar that opens starting at 5pm. So he looked at the aquarium by the entrance when the bar is still closed.
They also have the largest urban spa in Manila with an Onsen concept. We have not booked any treatments but we are thinking of going back to give them a try.
If you are planning to stay here, make sure to book directly from their website to avail of web-site-only promotions, more customized services (we have a welcome dessert), complimentary mini bar for the first night and complimentary Club Lounge access. Quick and easy check-in and check-out and I love it that they are really serious on their no smoking policy.
I’M Hotel is located in Makati Avenue corner Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City. It just a few blocks away from Century City Mall. They also have free shuttle service if you want to visit Makati CBD area (Greenbelt, Glorietta).
